That was a Sunday, a holiday, July 28, 2013.
I was reading the morning news paper to find interesting news that the river Cauvery is flowing with enormous water (1 Lakh cu.ft/sec) because of the Kabini and Krishna Raja Sagar(KRS) Dams could not contain the elixir anymore.

Kabini River originates from Wayanad of Kerala and is a tributary of Cauvery, joins the Cauvery (at T.Narasipura in Karnataka) with the downstream of KRS Reservoir.

I wanted to see the bank to bank voluminous

flow and the roaring fall of river Cauvery and thinking about the place of sight to visit.
Hogenakkal in Tamilnadu was not pulling me.
Then, where else I can go? Scratched my head and the lovely place Shivanasamudra of Karnataka lit a light in me.

With newspaper in my hands I went inside the home and was telling everyone about the huge flow of water in Cauvery and this is the right time to visit Shivanasamudra to have a tasty feast for eyes.

My kids were engaged with their own activities and they did not show any interest in it.

My better half Lakshmi has decided to accompany me to see the scenic beauty of river Cauvery at Shivanasamudra.

So we have started our journey by car soon after the breakfast from Vairamangalam.

We had a choice of two routes and selected the

Vairamangalam > Aappakudal > Anthiyur >
Thamaraikarai > Bargur > Kargekandi > Ramapura > Hanur >Kollegal > Shivanasamudra route and approximately the stretch is just

140 Km one-way.

We have reached Shivanasamudra by noon. Just few kilometers before Shivanasamudra the Cauvery River splits into two streams. After a short distance of flow the left stream makes a fall called Gaganachukki and the right stream makes a fall called Bharachukki. Then the flow from these two falls will mingle into one in the downstream after a short distance,then it continues it journey towards Biligundu then to Hogenakal then to Mettur Resrvoir.

Shivanasamudra is the place (Island), not a waterfall.

Gaganachukki and Bharachukki are the two waterfalls at Shivanasamudra.

Previously I have visited this place. But, this visit was very special because of the enormous volume of the water flow.
First we have gone to Gaganachukki fall and spent some time seeing the marvellous scene of it. After that we have moved to Bharachukki falls a short distance away from Gaganachukki.
The Bharachukki is a widespread fall cum flow and the whole spread was covered with the water flow because of the 1 Lakh cusec combined water discharge from Kabini and KRS Dams.

The serene manifestation of existence cannot be described.
